Celebrating the beauty of a 179 year old calla lily. A new (to the library) French language children's book published at New Orleans in 1829 crossed my desk today. Pressed inside was this calla lily. Beyond "Clair" I wasn't able to decipher the name written in the book on May 14th, 1838, but I think Clair celebrated a special moment that spring, and all these years later I celebrated too. We remove leaves and flowers from books, but keep them in a unique collection noting the editions in which they were found.
